All arrived!

We have all arrived safely at the airport and everyone is happy!

Going back to KZ

We are on our way back to the airport to fly back to Kazakhstan.

Throughout this trip, the children have been FANTASTIC ambassadors for their country and school, and we have had countless comments from hotel staff, school staff and members of the public about how polite, happy and well-behaved they are. It has been a real treat to travel with them and I would like to say a big WELL DONE to all of them.

See you soon!

Speech Day!

Today was the big day! Together with Haileybury Almaty and Haileybury UK, our Kazakh Orchestra performed on the big stage to 1800 people. It was a huge success and everyone was very impressed with our performance.

As a treat afterwards, we got to go to Paradise Wildlife Park! We saw monkeys and lions, snakes and kangaroos, and even a snow-leopard!

If you have any good PHOTOS of Speech Day, please send them to a.csenki@haileyburyastana.kz and I can share them.

Tomorrow we leave for the airport.

Preparations for Speech Day

Today, the children have been working very hard preparing for Speech Day tomorrow. We have played, rehearsed, sung and practised. Everyone is now tired but happy and ready for tomorrow!

Tuned up and ready to rehearse!

The saz-syrnais really blew us away!

The percussion section are a hit!

This is our stage for tomorrow.

 Looking good, sounding great!

Dombra-masters at the front, with the sheter section providing a strong backing.

Still smiling, even after so much playing!

You can never have too many dombras.

Aizere's solo will be broadcast to the whole hall.

 A treat for after...?

Trip to London!

Today we went to LONDON, the capital city of England and Great Britain.

We had a lot of fun and all of the children are happy but tired after a long day.

We started out in the Natural History Museum. We saw diamonds and emeralds; dodos and dinosaurs.

Year 3 went straight to the interesting rocks!

Then we went on the Duck Tour! It was a bus that was also a boat!

 All aboard!

We saw Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and Harrods before driving straight into the water!

Will it float...?

The children think yes!

We passed another 'duck' opposite.

We cruised down the river and saw more sights. The sailing conditions were excellent and all children had no problem finding their sea legs.

After coming back to dry land, we drove to the London Eye. From here, we could see almost all of London!

 Storm ahead?

The Haileybury Astana Capsule!

After London Eye, we returned back to school to have tea and play outside, before back to the hotel to bed.

Look what we bought!

Playing '40-40' hide and seek. Ready or not, here I come!

Tomorrow will be a day of preparing and rehearsing at school. We only have one day left before our performance at Speech Day in Haileybury UK.

Concert in Hertford

Today we had our first public concert! It was in All Saint's Church in Hertford.

We had a good rehearsal beforehand, to check we knew everything.

Miss Leila was the teacher for the Kazakh words, of course!

Taking a break!

Here we are getting ready to play in the church.

If any parents have any good PHOTOS of the concert, please email to a.csenki@haileyburyastana.kz and I will put them up!

We had a special guest - Mr. Auster! He was very pleased to see us and hear us perform with the other Haileybury Schools.

After the concert, the sun came out and so we went outside to play.
Say cheese!

Some of the children found creepy-crawlies in the trees, others played football.

We built a den for our 20 bugs we found! They later escaped.

We then went to the swimming pool and had great fun on the floats, before having a hearty dinner and heading back to the hotel.

The children are happy and tired from the day, and are looking forward to going to LONDON tomorrow.

We meet at the Natural History Museum at 1000 tomorrow.
